Gem Sensations
Coloured gemstones are thriving in silver, with gem-set creations gaining a strong following in the market. The metal’s relative affordability brings enjoyment of these gems to more consumers while encouraging creativity through versatility of design and colour.
Creative horizons
Hang Po Jewellery Co Ltd is also placing the focus on coloured stones this year. The Hong Kong-based pearl jewellery specialist has expanded its business by adding gem-set silver jewellery collections to its offerings, reveals marketing manager SoSo Lam. Cabochons are Hang Po’s cut of choice, with the manufacturer offering full jewellery sets of rings, earrings, bracelets, bangles and necklaces.
“The sets can feature a single gemstone, a combination of stones or even with some freshwater pearls for accent. On top of that, clients have a choice of stones and plating, allowing them to pick those most suitable for their market,” Lam says. For this line, Hang Po is using African amazonite, white jade, synthetic turquoise, pyrite, onyx, malachite, smoky quartz, lapis lazuli and blue lace agate. Wholesale prices range from US$5 to US$15 per piece, and the company requires a minimum order of 30 pieces per style and per stone.
